HONOKA'A - This first-ever job fair was a partnership between ILWU Local 142 and ILWU units on the Big Island. This was a win-win situation for both the companies who could benefit from more workers and the community at large, especially students who just graduated and may be looking for a good-paying union job for the summer or beyond (this event was held on a date close to graduations: June 17, 2022). The companies with booths at this event were strictly ILWU houses. Pictured above is Local Vice President Corinna Salmo Nguyen with some students dressed in business casual attire for the event in case they were interviewed on the spot.

Thank you to the membership who showed up and volunteered their time to donate blood. Pictured below is Niko Vitale from HSI and above is Sam Filipo from McCabe, Hamilton & Renny.

HONOLULU - On July 12, 2022, ILWU Local 142 partnered with HMSA and Blood Bank of Hawaii to sponsor a blood drive at the ILWU Hall on Atkinson Drive. Over 50 people showed up to donate blood. Donors ranged from people in the community, staff, full time officers, and mem- bers. Pictured above are the nurses on staff from HMSA, and Senator Lynn DeCoite, Social Services Coordinator Cassandra Cockett and Lynn Ching from HMSA. We are proud of our ILWU 'ohana who showed up to take part in such a worthy cause. We are also thankful to partner with other orga- nizations within the community to make a difference at a broader scale.
