What does ILWU mean to me?
ILWU has taught me about my rights as a worker, and learning about what the company can and cannot do. This union really opened my eyes on having not only the tools but the support I need for any issue on the job.

Those on the International Executive Board were elected in the International ILWU election, separate from the Local-wide ILWU Local 142 election. Nominations for representatives from each of Local 142's industries were held at the International Convention in June 2021. They attend the quarterly meetings that are held at International Headquarters in San Francisco, California with representatives from all locals that compose ILWU nationally and internationally. These meetings are usually followed by the Local Executive Board meetings, where they can provide updates and reporting from the union at the International level to all the LEB members. They have a voice on the LEB, but no vote.
