NOMINATION—September 1 - 15, 2024. Nomination Petitions (ILWU-E Form 14) signed by 25 members in good standing must be submitted to the Local Secretary-Treasurer and received between September 1 and 4:00 p.m. on September 15, 2024, inclusive. The Local President, Vice President, Secretary Treasurer, and members of the Local Executive Board At-Large from the Industrial Groupings shall be nominated from the floor at the Local Convention. PRIMARY ELECTION (if necessary)—Nominations and primary election of the Local President, Vice President, Secretary-Treasurer and members of the Local Executive Board At-Large from the Industrial Groupings shall be held on the last day of the Convention, Friday, September 13, 2024. A primary election will only be held if there are more than two nominees for an office. CANDIDATE MEETINGS—Candidate meetings on the conduct of election and campaign prohibitions will be held simultaneously in person and via Zoom videoconference as follows: • Tuesday, September 17, 2024 at 9:00 a.m., Maui Division Union Hall • Tuesday, September 17, 2024 at 3:00 p.m., Kauai Division Union Hall • Wednesday, September 18, 2024 at 9:00 a.m., Hawaii Division Union Hall (Hilo) • Wednesday, September 18, 2024 at 3:00 p.m., Local 142 Union Hall
Any nominated candidate who wishes to attend a virtual candidates’ meeting must call (808) 864-1921 or email elections@ilwulocal42.org to request meeting registration no later than 8:00 p.m. on Friday, September 13, 2024. A personal email address must be provided in order to receive an invitation to a virtual meeting. Meeting invitations will be sent out no later than 4:00 p.m. on Monday, September 16, 2024. For more information, see the candidate packet. ELECTION—MAIL BALLOT VOTING will take place October 23, 2024 through December 10, 2024, to conclude 9:00 a.m. Tuesday, December 10, 2024. TABULATION—Ballots will be picked up from the downtown post office in Honolulu, Oahu at 9:00 a.m. on Tuesday, December 10, 2024. Tabulations will take place on Tuesday, December 10, 2024 at the Honolulu ILWU Office. RUN-OFF ELECTION (if necessary)—In the event of a runoff, the runoff shall be conducted within 45 days after the Secretary-Treasurer receives the certified results of the balloting, or in the case of an election challenge, within 45 days of the decision of the Judicial Panel or Local Executive Board, whichever is later.

During the voting period from October 23 through December 10, 2024, an e-mail address and toll-free “help desk” number will be available if you have not received a ballot, or need a duplicate ballot. You must call or email personally, state that you are from ILWU Local 142 and provide your full name, unit number, mailing address and best call back phone number. Once your information is confirmed, you will receive a confirmation number for your fulfilled request.
