Brothers and Sisters of ILWU 142
I've been a member of ILWU 142 for 35 years. I began working at Foodland unit 3402 in 1978, where I served as a Steward, Vice- Chair and Statewide Negotiating Committee Member. I became a Business Agent in 2013 and was appointed as Division Director on January 1, 2020. This last year and a half has been a challenge and learning experience due to Covid-19. During this time there were company closures and multiple layoffs which required ongoing effects bargaining sessions. I had the opportunity to organize new units, negotiate contracts, represent members, protect their rights, working conditions and benefits when they needed it most. I'm thankful for all the support these past years and humbly ask for another chance to serve you as Kauai Division Director.

Sisters and Fellow Co-Workers. I come from Unit 3511 Grand Hyatt Kaua'i and I'm running for the office of Kaua'i Division Director. Currently, I'm the Vice Chairperson for our Unit and I also sit on the International Executive Board as a Tourism Representative. I've also sat on the Local Executive Board, was the Unit Editor for our Unit Newspaper and I've been on our Units Negotiations Team for 15+years. Kaua'i is small. We should be able to be United, more involved in community events and most importantly, we should be more involved with our members. We need to keep the interests and the concerns of our members at the forefront of our thoughts and actions. We are a "bottoms up" organization. The members have the right to know what's going on, on our island as well as throughout the state. Communication is key and desperately needed to get more members involved with this great union. I hope you consider me. I can only promise to do my best for working for all of you!

my name is Daniel La'a. I'm proud to announce that I am running for the Business Agent position within the Kauai Division of the ILWU Local 142. I am running not only to further my knowledge within the union but to build a healthy relationship that I hope will prosper down the road. With this in mind, I vow to educate my fellow colleagues throughout my candidacy as I believe this is the best way to achieve my goal of enlightening current and future union members to not only spark their interest but to light an ember in what hopes to become a fiery passion later down the line. As for my representative duties, I can assure you that with my 14 years of service I vow to represent parties with equal weight, remain unbiased and fight the fight to make things right. With this announcement, I hereby stake my name behind my fellow colleagues and friends as I look forward to your support in the upcoming election.
