Local President Candidate:
DONNA DOMINGO

Aloha Brothers and Sisters. It has been a great honor of mine to serve the membership of the ILWU Local 142 for the last 7 years as your President and in the previous 8 years as your Vice President. I have spent these last 15 years focused on growing and fighting for our membership.

We’ve had great successes during my tenure, in areas of Administration, Negotiations, and defense of contracts for our members, in legislative and political victories and a healthy and stable financial status. Over the next three years, I will continue to ensure our membership is represented well at the bargaining table and that our finances remain healthy and stable.

Brothers and Sisters, we are the beneficiaries of a deep and rich history founded on simple set of values, “Unity, Solidarity and Strength” I have used these values to guide every decision I’ve made, in contracts I’ve negotiated and challenges we have had to overcome. I believe in our motto, “An Injury to One is an Injury to All,” and I know you do too. For these reasons and the future of our Union, I humbly ask for your vote in the coming election.

In Solidarity,

Donna Domingo

Local President Candidate:
ALANNA MAKINANO

Family,

Chair of Alohilani Resort, Unit 4526. I was born and raised in Mililani in a difficult home. I know what it feels like to be unseen, and I promised myself I would advocate for others like me.

When I found my escape with soccer, I learned what it meant to become part of a team, and I flourished. I went to University of Texas on a soccer scholarship and graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in Kinesiology/Business. I learned hard work, perseverance, and dedication.

I found family again at Pacific Beach Hotel. Our membership struggled together for ten years before we could get a contract from the employer. Between court battles and picket lines, I was inspired to become an active member of the ILWU.

Experience is how we start. Change brings new voices. Change empowers the voiceless. Change can return our union to the hands of the rank and file. One voice spoken with respect, integrity, and truth can set the tone, but a hundred voices standing strong together will create change that impacts lives for the better.

I humbly ask for your support.
How can I serve you?

Local Vice President Candidate:
CHRISTIAN WEST

Aloha ILWU ohana!

My name is Chris West and I am running for Local 142 Vice President. I have been happily married for 18 years and I am the father of two beautiful daughters. I have been a proud, dues paying member of this great union for 17 years and have served as an elected official of the Hawaii Longshore for 14 years. Eight on the Executive Board of unit 4201 and currently the past 6 as Hawaii Stevedores Vice Chairman. I was one of 7 on the 2014 state wide Longshore negotiating committee and also on the 2018 contract extension committee.

Why run for Local Vice President? One word, Solidarity! It is said, “United we stand, Divided we fall.”, yet our Local has never been so divided in It’s history. Where once we stood together, there is now a gap between the Longshore and the rest of our 142 ohana. My wish is to bridge that gap and that is why I am running for Local 142 Vice President! TOGETHER we can accomplish great things for our rank and file. For more about myself please visit my Facebook page “Chris West for ILWU 142 Vice President” or ChrisforVP.com
