My name is Abel Kahoohanohano, Jr. I am running for business agent at large, Maui Division. I have worked for H.C. & S. for 14 years and also have gone on to work for Ameron Maui for 15 years. I was elected chairman of unit 2406 and have been there for 3 years. I am currently temporary Business Agent for Maui division.
I have been a steward for 18 years and have always campaigned the cause of the rank and file.
If I am elected my promise to you is availability, and dependability. No phone calls unanswered, and no
problem not followed through with.

Aloha, I’m Stephen (Steve) Castro Sr. I’ve been an ILWU member since 1979. I come from tourism and have worked for Kapalua Bay Hotel for the past 24 years. I have served in the capacity of a steward, unit editor, grievance chairman, vice chairman and chairman. I have participated in hotel negotiations, served as a member of the local executive board and have attended the hotel labor institute. In 2002, I was appointed as a business agent, and continue to represent and serve our members. There are many challenges ahead, but with the support of our unit leadership and members, and by working together, all things are possible. Let’s move forward together.

My name is Jerrybeth DeMello (everyone calls me * JB *) seeking for re-election as your Business Agent. I have been your Business Agent for 11 years with an overall of 30 years of experience with the Maui Division. I am currently assigned to Kaanapali Beach Hotel, Kaanapali Operators Association, Lanai-Castle & Cooke Resorts, The Westin Maui Hotel and
Kaanapali Management Golf (formally known as AMFAC Kaanapali Golf). Besides enforcing the Collective Agreement, other services rendered to assist you with are: Workers Compensation, Steps on Grievances, Medical Assistance, Food Bank, Unemployment Insurance. I have also served with various Maui County Boards and Commission to better serve our members.
I come from a union family, the Union is my life. All units are my family under our banner of the ILWU and I am asking for your support in the up coming election.

I am a 30 year rank-and-file member of this Union since my employment at Wailuku Sugar Company (later Wailuku
Agribusiness) since June of 1972. There I held unit office positions of Unit Vice-Chair, Unit Chair, Pineapple Negotiating Committee Member, and Statewide Pineapple Negotiation Committee Chairman and Local Executive Board Member. At present I am attached to Maui Pineapple Company since December 1995. I became a Full Time Officer at the Maui Division in January 1995 as an appointed Local Representative and became a Business Agent in January 2001 to the present.
As a servicing Full Time Officer at the Maui Division over the years, I had gained much valued experience in contract negotiations as a committee member and as spokesperson. In servicing various units such as Maui Pine, Royal Lahaina, Maui Beach, Tri-Isle, the Credit Unions, Pine Clerks, Pacific Machinery and many others I am experienced in grievance handling and settlements, Hotel adjustment board hearings, and arbitration hearings. I have also represented members in Workers
Compensation and Industrial Accident Settlements, Unemployment Compensation Benefits, Social Security Benefits, Regular Retirement and Disability Retirement.
I am committed to continue to serve the membership to the best of my ability.
