I started off my involvement and participation as a steward and work my way up to becoming an officer of my unit. As day passed by I internalized the IMPORTANCE of union to working class employees like me including my family because of the AMAZING benefits.
I have been afforded the great opportunity better understanding the past successes and the future challenges of ILWU by attending conventions/trainings/workshops and attending meetings us well.

ALOHA union brother and sister. I'm ORLANDO DE LEON representing UNIT 2508 MAUI ELDORADO AOAO originally from Castillejos, Zambales, Philippines. I have been a very active and dedicated union member for 30 years as well as shop steward 9 years and unit Chairman for 21 years, happily married with my wife MARIA THERESA DE LEON, a union member of 2516 Hyatt Regency Resort Maui for 33 years. My family and relatives most especially our children know the important role of UNION in our lives. Having better benefits and job security, workplace safety, work opportunities and that's the reason my participation and involvement is amazing and superb with commitment and passion. I gained more knowledge and ideas about union through attending various international/Local conventions, steward trainings, labor institute and other workshops. Learning is a continuous process so I never stop learning and take all opportunities provided by ILWU. I'm diligent and long-time member of Democratic Party of Hawaii. I was elected as Precinct Officer/District Officer and delegate for the last 10 years which I attended actively various meetings/ events/conventions. I ASK for your VOTE for me as DELEGATE for TOURISM for the 39th International Convention in 2024.
