the union offered were in January 2020. These classes have been on hold since the pandemic, but they came back with a vengeance this past June! Classes were held in Maui on June 15, in Hilo on June 21, in Kona on June 22, and on Kauai on June 28. These intensive day-long classes cover everything from your rights in the contract to how to file a grievance. Kudos to our nearly 60 members who stepped up this past summer to be stewards! Stewards are the crucial bridge connecting union help with workers' problems on the job. More steward trainings are coming in the fall, so stay tuned.

The new steward training in Hilo was held on June 21, 2022 at the newly renovated ILWU Hall. Stewards at this training came from a variety of units such as Westin Ha- puna Beach Resort, Mauna Loa Macadamia Nut, Big Island Federal Credit Union, Queen's North Hawaii Community Hospital Clerical, Hu Honua Bioenergy, and Yukio Okutsu Veteran's Home.

Kauai Division held their new steward training on June 28, 2022. New stewards came from units such as Wilcox Hospital, Gay & Robinson Power Plant, The Point at Poipu, Mid Pac Auto Center, Grand Hyatt Kauai, and Puakea Golf.
Maui Division held their new steward training on June 15, 2022. Nearly 20 new stewards attended from Wailea Golf, Valley Isle Federal Credit Union, Paradise Beverages, Hale Makua, Westin Maui, Kaanapali Beach Hotel, Montage Kapalua Bay, Wailea Ekahi AOAO, Hyatt Regency Maui, Hotel Wailea, Grand Wailea Resort and Spa, Maui Beach Hotel, and Kaanapali Ali'i.
Full-Time Officers Conference, September 12-16, 2022: This week-long event will be hosted at the Honolulu ILWU Hall. Full-time officers from every island and division are required to participate. This conference is bringing in educators and activists from a range of backgrounds and disciplines, featuring an organizing and mobilizing
workshop by Gordon Lafer and Eve Weinbaum and a talk story with Chris Smalls, President of the Amazon Labor Union. More reporting to come on this exciting week-long event in future issues of the Voice!
Leadership Education and Development Institute (LEAD) September 18-23, 2022: The LEAD Institute is hosted by the International and will be held in Sacra- mento, California. The Local is sending a delegation of attendees.
