Tourism industry workers make up about half of the approximately 18,000 ILWU members in Hawaii. The ILWU represents hotel, resort, restaurant and golf course workers on all major islands. These ILWU members make critical contributions to the state’s economy through their work. ILWU members in hotels are highly skilled at their jobs and excel in sharing Hawaii’s spirit of aloha with visitors.
Staying at a unionized hotel or resort doesn’t just support the workers who chose to join a union. Union contracts provide wages, benefits and working conditions that help raise workplace standards for others in the community.
