Hawaii Division Director

Candidate for Division Director
Richard Baker Jr.

I am seeking the office of Hawaii Division DIRECTOR. Since becoming an ILWU member in 1967, I have held various positions in the ILWU rank and file leadership such as Steward, Vice Chair and Unit Chair. I was a local Executive Board member from 1969 to 1988. I was a Business Agent from 1988 to the present and from time to time assistant division director. These leadership roles have prepared me for the job of Division Director.

I have had the privilege and the satisfaction of being able to serve as a leader to the ILWU rank and file. I humbly ask the membership to elect me as their Hawaii Division Director.

As Division Director my goals are to:
• continue the Hawaii Division team by working together in a democratic fashion.
• build a strong steward system through training for the development of unit leaders.
• improve communication and visibility of the leadership to increase solidarity and unity.
• mobilization of the membership from the bottom up to participation in the ILWU programs.

Together, we stand for dignity and respect as working men and women of the ILWU.

Hawaii Business Agent

Candidate for Business Agent
Isaac Fiesta Jr.

Hello brothers and sisters! I want to thank all of you for your support during the last 12 years that I have served as business
agent for Hawaii division. This year I am once again humbly asking for your support in the up coming local election when I run for business agent.

I became a member in good standing from 1968 when I started working for the Pepekeo sugar company. My experience as a unit official first started when I became a steward; I then went on to serve as garage chief steward, unit safety rep., steward council chair and division P.A.C. chair.

I first became a business agent in 1991 and I have since gained a lot of experience in the following areas: unemployment insurance handling, workers compensation claim, grievance handling, arbitration hearings, spoke person in contract negotiations; spokes person for 1st time contract. In addition to being a business agent, I am presently the Hawaii division
organizing coordinator.

Once again, I humbly ask for your support for me and the Hawaii division team during the upcoming election.

Sincerely, Isaac Fiesta Jr.

Currently Greg is serving as a liquor commissioner and is the President of the Waikoloa Democrat Party. He has worked since the age of nine in restaurants
and at sixteen he began working in the hotel industry and has continued to do so since. He was born in California in 1971 to a devout Catholic mother and an immigrant father. “My family was very poor,” says Greg, “I watched my father hop around from job to job without any health insurance or protection his whole life. I was forced to work at a young age in order to have
school clothes. I too have been a victim of bad labor practice and had never had Union protection until I came to Hawaii. I am
passionate about workers rights.”
