Kauai is the smallest geographical division in Local 142 with about 2,000 members, but they are a crucial part of this organization. This is the only Division to ever have female Division Directors. The Grand Hyatt Kauai is the largest employer of ILWU members, and other large employers include units such as then Wilcox Memorial Hospital and Kauai Coffee Company.

Oahu is the second largest division of the ILWU Local 142. Over half of Oahu's members work in the general trades industrial grouping, with Food- land Super Market being the largest employer.
