Statewide Local President

Candidate for Local President
Raymond “Ray” Camacho

Aloha. My name is Ray Camacho. In 1982 I started cleaning tables, washing dishes and serving food in an ILWU Hotel.
Now, 21 years later, I am humbled by the opportunity to serve you as President.

Growing up in this Union, I saw the best and worst of times. From the fight to save over 120 jobs at Holiday Inn Airport and helping establish the Hawaii Dislocated Worker Act in 1987, to the firing of 260 members from Hawaiian Waikiki Beach Hotel in 2002. During my ILWU years, I met my wife Carolina Baltazar Cariaga (daughter of an ILWU longshoreman), and witnessed the birth of my four children at an ILWU Hospital (Kaiser).

As Business Agent and Division Director, I’ve led contract campaigns against subcontracting, medical cuts and unfair treatment, while negotiating over 100 contracts in tourism, pineapple, sugar and general trades. My proudest accomplishment was negotiating job security language at Honolulu Airport Hotel which protects our members in ownership
changes, and against sub-contracting of jobs.

President Bo Lapenia is retiring, leaving a legacy of militancy that I promise to continue. I will fight to protect medical, job security and retirement benefits. I humbly ask for your vote. Mahalo.

Candidate for Local President
Federico “Fred” Galdones

I feel humbled and honored to be nominated to run for President of this great organization - ILWU Local 142. I am blessed to have many brothers and sisters who believe in me.

Being raised by first generation Filipino parents working on the sugar plantation on the Big Island, I strived for 25 years to be actively involved in ILWU leadership positions - 12 of which as Hawaii Division Director.

It is through my upbringing and experience that I hold the office of leadership to bring credibility and purpose for our efforts. There is no better way than to lead by setting the example for our membership to follow - Live with Integrity . . . Lead by Example. It is my wish to serve you by building a team to accomplish the extraordinary.

Remember, the work we produce is our trademark for our future. That all workers be treated with dignity and respect and appreciated as a team player is a VISION I have as I take on this challenge to vie for President of ILWU Local 142.

Your vote for me to be your next ILWU Local 142 President will give us that opportunity.

Aloha. I have been a proud member of our union for 27 years now. For the first five years, I served as unit chairman of my

Candidate for Local Vice President
Donna Domingo

Aloha. My name is Donna Domingo. Some say I’m making history as the first woman and first hotel worker to be nominated for Vice President. But, I prefer to say I want to make a positive contribution at the highest possible level, and I just happen to be a woman and a hotel worker.

I am 3rd generation Filipina, born on Oahu and moved to Maui in 1975. I have been married for 26 years to Michael Domingo, from Kauai, an ILWU member and bartender at the Grand Wailea Hotel. I’ve been an ILWU member for 24 Years, serving as Unit Chair at Maui Lu Resort since 1990. I’ve served as Division Trustee and Local Executive Board member for
6 Years. I have also served in numerous union positions, as Chairperson for Maui’s Division Chairmen’s Meetings and Political Action Committee, and Officer for ILWU’s Women’s Committee, while also serving on many hotel negotiating committees since the 1980’s.

We need to continue President Bo Lapenia’s legacy. He gave us the tools to confront new challenges facing our members. Its our turn now. I humbly ask for your vote and promise to continue the tradition of fighting for what’s right. Mahalo
