Golf Tournament hosted at Pearl Country Club
AIEA-Over 30 members and their families from all divisions gathered on Oahu at ILWU Unit 4421 Pearl Country Club on September 11, 2022 for the 69th ILWU Local 142 Golf Tournament. The last time we held our Statewide Golf Tournament was in 2018, so the camaraderie was long overdue and that much more appreciated.

Oahu's Labor Unity Picnic brings union families together

HONOLULU - Gates at the Waikiki Shell did not open until 3:30 p.m. for the Labor Unity Picnic on September 4, 2022, but hundreds of people from over 20 different labor unions were already lined up with their beach chairs outside the venue hours before. This popular event was put on hold for the past few years because of COVID, but made a strong comeback this past September with over 7,000 union members and families in attendance

Union Political Action success in Primary Election bodes well for the General

ILWU Local 142 endorsed both Green and Luke in the Primary Election and both candidates will be moving on to the General Election where they stand a strong chance of winning again.

Statewide ILWU education and training underway

the union offered were in January 2020. These classes have been on hold since the pandemic, but they came back with a vengeance this past June! Classes were held in Maui on June 15, in Hilo on June 21, in Kona on June 22, and on Kauai on June 28. These intensive day-long classes cover everything from your rights in the contract to how to file a grievance.

BIG ISLAND job fair

HONOKA'A - This first-ever job fair was a partnership between ILWU Local 142 and ILWU units on the Big Island. This was a win-win situation for both the companies who could benefit from more workers and the community at large, especially students who just graduated and may be looking for a good-paying union job for the summer or beyond (this event was held on a date close to graduations: June 17, 2022).
